Great post - Check it out!

This was a great article I found from an InStyle Weddings Post.. Great definitions of the different types of planners...

Types of Coordinators / Planners
Local Industry
These are usually people in a local community who plan weddings as a side line to their full time profession. They are usually a bit cheaper, but most have no event or hospitality experience and therefore are only offering you their organisational skills and their desire to make things look nice. There is a place for this service just be sure that it s what you want.

Wedding Suppliers offering wedding coordination
Many wedding suppliers (caterers, marquee companies, hairdressers, make up artists etc.) offer wedding planning as a side line to their service, it is a way in increasing revenue by selling more to their wedding clients. Make sure that the service they offer is comprehensive and worth the extra spend. This can be very hit and miss, some offer an excellent service, others completely miss the boat rofessionally. Again be sure that it is right for you.

Venue-based coordinators
Of course many venues have a wedding planner. They will be most helpful and not charge for their services (it is included in the venue cost); remember they work for the venue and in the venues best interests, therefore are not specifically looking to create value for money for their customers! Further to this, there is a limit to the assistance they can provide as they are employed by the venue not you. Generally the service is to coordinate the suppliers that you have chosen within their venue and be there on the day to manage proceedings. Make sure you know what you are getting in terms of service and what you will have to do for yourself.

Independent wedding coordinators / planners - CONFERO falls under this category.
Finally, the more reputable planner will be completely independent and an agent to (you) the client, they will consult with you in depth as to your requirements and produce a quote based on those needs. The quote should be a total cost and will only change if your requirements do. This means that from the outset you are aware of the cost of your planner and that your planner is working solely in your best interests (as they are not chasing commissions). In addition to this any discounts they may negotiate will come back to you the client, so there may be added bonuses for you. This is the method of charging. Ask yourself, does using a cheaper accountant save you money or cost your money in missed tax deductions, or poor advice leading to increased costs? A fee-based professional will most definitely provide the best value for money and time, if you require a more comprehensive service.

When you book Confero, you know are getting the best! As an event professional, I know where to spend a clients budget to produce the greatest show for the least cost. It's all about knowing your market and how to work with your vendors. And Confero knows how to "bring it all together!"

Weekend Update...

Wrapping up a busy weekend, and doing the normal Sunday routine.. Did a bit of laundry... Had a mishap with washing Crews dog bed... it was supposed to be machine washable - turns out it wasn't. So, it'll be a new bed for the pup tomorrow. Let's see if I can fit that in to my BUSY day.

It'll be another Monday full of appointments - a new bridal appointment, taking another bride to meet with a floral vendor, and meeting a new client to do some PR work. It'll be so busy, but it's always so rewarding.

Anyone doing anything fun for the 4th? I am heading to Atlanta for my last weekend off until September. It'll be good to get out of town and have some fun.

Another update to come soon!

Confero premiers "Seco Latera"

Hello All - Blogging three days in a row! I'm on fire!!

I am so proud to release Seco Latera, Confero's casual line of stationery design. Most of you know I was a PR major from Auburn, and with that came knowledge of all things creative. I have been doing print design for years, and decided to add it to my repertoire for Confero. We can do everything from Save-the-Date cards to Custom Monograms. Confero truly is a one stop shop!

it's a STYLISH time for Confero

Hey guys! Another new blog post so soon? YES! There has been so much going on, I have to catch you up... This is the official style post of the week!

You all know that Confero was a charter designer in the first Signature Style Series in Alabama Weddings Magazine. Well it's time to get to work again and design a new look to showcase in the 2010 issue. I can't give too much away, but you know if I am involved it's going to be awesome!
The style this year is very theatrical. Great lighting and staging will play a big part in my design. I come from a theatrical background so it was only appropriate that I shoot at the historic Alabama Theatre. It's going to be beautiful!

Over the past few days I also went to see a dear friend of mine, Alicia Clavell. She moved from the outskirts of the city, right into the heart of Highland Ave. Her new place is a beautiful historic condo, that is nestled among the tree tops. She called on me to help her do some home STYLING, and what an afternoon it was. She has some beautiful artwork, and so many books! What else would you expect from such a gifted wordsmith.  :-)

Last STYLE entry for today is an update on my new puppy Crew. He got his first haircut, and he is such a handsome little man. A little man who likes to chew on EVERYTHING... but handsome none the less. :-)

Update from Weekend

Hey guys! Sorry it's been so long.  - life has been SO super busy.

The weekend for me was relaxing and hectic at the same time. Mandy & I ventured out to the Hoover Met to see the Birmingham Barons play a game, and it was quite fun. We enjoyed "Thirsty Thursday" posed for a photo op, hit the seventh inning stretch, and wrapped up the night with a stop at The Purple Onion.... yum.

It was also City Stages weekend here in the Magic City. One of my favorite blues artists Jonny Lang performed on Saturday night, and it was incredible. He made me remember why music is such a big part of my life. It takes you places and makes your emotions just rush! If you have never heard his music, look him up. JonnyLang.com

Calling it a night for now! Another update to come tomorrow.

So Far Behind!

As a advocate for social media, I thought that I was on the forefront of all things new..
I was wrong. I have been on twitter now for a couple weeks and just starting to get the hang of it... I have been blogging for a few months now, and thought I was doing great. I was wrong.

My GRANDMOTHER added me on twitter and I didn't quite know what to do! She's been blogging since 2005! How amazing is that! Please go check her out...

I am so proud to come from such an amazing woman! Love you grandma!

Rain, Rain go away..

It's been a long and rainy weekend. Did everyone stay dry?!
Easy Saturday of bridal bliss... Matt Jones Gallery looked amazing.. Mandy always works her magic - even through the rain.

It's been quite a Sunday for me... not the typical laundry and down time..
Are you ready for this?!? I adopted a new puppy! A mini schnauzer. His name is Crew, and I pick him up on Tuesday. Take a look and let me know what you think!

Aside from  being super excited about my new pup, I've been preparing for a SUPER busy Monday. Back to Back meetings all day. Showing a Confero bride-to-be Matt Jones Gallery, then headed next door to HotHouse to meet with Mandy Majerik. I am super excited about laying some ground work for an amazing wedding this Fall.

New Post this week with BIG fun info. Get ready for it! :-)
Hope everyone has a great Monday. I'll be "skirting" about town... ha.
Night all.

Today was a "sweet" day.

Hello all -
How's this week going for ya? Monday was pretty good for me. Spent the day with my mom in Atlanta, and then headed home to Birmingham. Went to bingo last night, and had a fun time!

Today was back at Hothouse... She had some great events this past weekend, check out her blog to see some photos from them! www.hothousedesignstudio.com

Mandy and I went on a special adventure today. We took a few hours away from the studio and went to hang out with Diane Olexa. She is such a sweetheart! We went by her cafe and enjoyed an amazing piece of cake. If you've never had her sweet treats, you MUST go to her Mt. Brook location and try it. Tell her Confero sent you! :-)

Busy, Busy, Busy..

An event planner just never stops! Lots of great events coming up and I’m so happy to see all of my hard work and long hours paying off... I'm thankful I get to have fun with my work as well - last night was the Birmingham Magazine “Beautiful People Party.” The new aLoft hotel in SoHo is such a great space - so cool. Here is the snap shot of me from the party.. what do ya think? Should I be one of Birmingham's beautiful people?

I’ve been absolutely wearing out Photoshop on the Mac this week. You may not know, but I design invitations and different print material. I was especially happy with an invitation I created for a birthday party I’m designing in July on the roof at the Redmont. Who DOESN’T love it up there? "Above" is the name of the new bar, check it out. Great drinks!

Speaking of birthdays, this past Sunday we celebrated the birthday of my friend and roommate, Matthew Bees, at our condo. It was a great night with lots of cosmos, a great cake by Amanda Combs, and even a microwave up in flames! Talk about a HOT party!

Here’s to hoping for a relaxing evening at ASO and some rest tonight? Then, it’s time to jump right back into it. Confero's Signature Style Series is in the works, get EXCITED! The Alabama Theater is going to be an AMAZING venue!

And guess who finally joined the rest of the world and got a Twitter?!? Follow me at Confero Tweets!
